INTERNS FOR PEACE (IFP) was established in 1976 in Israel. IFP was
the first and remains the only program with the purpose of training
community development peace workers, in Israel and now in Palestine and
Gaza/West Bank, Jordan and Egypt; who initiate cooperative inter-communal
action that unites all people.
The IFP proven method is that common action to achieve a shared task
unites people to see each other's humanity and beaks down walls of
suspicion, fear distrust and hatred. Over 200 Interns (community peace
workers) engaged 80,000 Jews and Arabs in business, athletic, cultural,
educational women's and community development projects. Intern graduates
and former participants in IFP activities become lifetime advocates of
coexistence, if not full-time professionals. IFP is also developing pilot
projects to improve ethnic relations worldwide.
INTERNS FOR PEACE has various projects around the world. Below are
a few examples of projects we have initiated.
In Israel
Programs with Israeli Ministries of Education, Welfare, Industry and Road
Safety:
IFP Israeli Intern Training: Jewish and Arab Interns focus on
 | Education for Democracy: Monthly interactions of
Jewish and Arab Twinned schools, grades 5-12; Rabin Lewis
Tolerance Project also includes Orthodox Jewish pupils
 | Mutual Community Development: Lewis road safety, tree
planing, building parks
 | Business / Industry: business partnerships, workplace
relations, youth business clubs
 | Sports: mixed clinics - soccer, tennis, etc.
(including Russian and Ethiopian immigrants)
 | Cultural Interaction: regional art, music and dance
festivals; multi-faith art calendars
 | Women United: regional workshops and national
conference to advance women's future |

In Palestine, Jordan and Egypt
Programs with Palestinian National Authority, Jordan, and Egypt
Ministries:
 | IFP Palestinian Intern Training: focus on
ex-prisoners, youth, and women in Community Development,
Rehabilitation, Civility Training projects in cooperation with
their Israeli peers
 | IFP Egyptian and Jordanian Intern Training: develops,
with Palestinians and Israeli Interns, an IFP Middle
East/Multi-National Youth Corps. The Youth Corps advances Middle
East Regional Cooperation in Land Reclamation, Ecology,
Community and Business Development. |

In North America
 | IFP Martin Luther King Jr. Intern Training: Black and Jewish
Interns involve youth in community gardens growing food New
York's poor. The project will be expanded from Brooklyn to other
cities and ethnic groups |
Worldwide
IFP Bosnia and Central Africa Intern Training: These IFP projects unite
ethnic youth in community development projects (in Bosnia: Moslems, Serbs,
and Croats: in Africa: Hutus and Tutis)
